This site sits on the south-west face of a greenhouse on Cornell campus. With the greenhouse recently refurbished, the plot has been disturbed and made bare. This design will replenish the soil with organic matter to create an optimal pH level and composition. The windows of the greenhouse begin 3’ off the ground, so I took into consideration the height of the plants up against the building, making sure mature sized plants closest to the windows do not reach over 3’ tall. The plantings provide all season interest, a diversity of height, color, and texture, while maintaining a flow and connection that does not disturb the eye’s natural journey. It is a soft and cool-colored patch of mostly native woody plants that diversify the local ecology and bring beauty to a neglected area.
