Suburban Lake Home

This suburban Vermont landscape has south western sun exposure and occasional strong NW winds coming from Lake Champlain. The client wanted to be able to see the lake from their west windows, while also having privacy from the neighbors. The current overgrown shrub has been removed and I have added 6 grasses against the window to obscure the passerby’s view without eliminating the family’s view from inside. The remaining plants add color, texture, and seasonal interest, while being able to endure the winds and prefering the afternoon sun. A mixed bluestone patio with an American granite sitting wall, built in firepit, and ample seating room has been added as an outdoor extension to the living area.
