Urban Residential Design

This is an urban property in the city of Burlington, VT with limited space and neighboring properties to be aware of. The client wanted to enjoy the minimal outdoor space they had to its full potential. The south property line is made up of invasive Buckthorn trees, which I have removed and replaced with native trees, shrubs, and perennials. The property is dappled with shade and the plants I chose accommodate that particular lighting. I created a new design for the property focusing on the client’s aesthetic sensibilities and the local climate. I incorporated old plants from the existing landscape, pulling out less desirable ones, and adding new native plants that fit the theme.
